Billboard Architecture Project: It All Begins with Cleaning!

On June 29, to kick off the Billboard Architecture Project, a cleaning crew made up of staff from the Biennale office and volunteers visited Kakuchi Konpo (former Packing store) and Kamiya Goriten( foermer Ice Shop) in Kanda-Sudacho. It was a hot and humid day with clear skies, but we spent the whole day thoroughly airing out the buildings, organizing various items that evoke the history of the shops, cleaning the floors, and taking out the trash.

While feeling the unique charm of these buildings that have long watched over the lives of people in this neighborhood, we also had the chance to hear valuable stories from local residents, including those who once ran the shops. These exchanges are an important next step in the project. With the help of citizens, we are carefully moving forward, one step at a time. We will continue to share updates on our activities.
