There are things that are usually dormant in our minds but that we become aware of for the first time when we put them into the form of words.

Writing in words brings back memories, sensations, feelings, and sensations vividly. This is the power of the art of words.

In this event, copywriter/poet Susumu Namikawa will lead a workshop in which each participant will rediscover his or her own memories and feelings, using "places that are important to me" as an entry point.

The words created in the workshop will be packed in bottles filled with water and exhibited as one of the works of "Not Lost Tokyo" during the Tokyo Biennale 2023 Autumn Season, starting September 23.

This is a great opportunity to learn the art of words and at the same time to have your artwork displayed at the Tokyo Biennale. Please join us.

What is "Not Lost Tokyo"?

It is an art project that "collects" and "samples" the changing city of Tokyo in various forms, such as 3D data, photographs, and words, and connects the city's records and memories in a new form for the next generation.

Lecturer: Susumu Namikawa

Born in 1973. In addition to his work as a social designer and copywriter, he continues to present works in the form of poetry and programming. His video works include "Industrial Waste Disposal Site Rock" and "Poolside Life. Exhibitions include the poetry exhibition "little stones in panic forest" at Sanyodo Gallery and "Watashi A to Watashi B" at Impact HUB Tokyo, in which he collaborated with artificial intelligence.
