Artist, researcher and electronic music composer.
He also writes in various fields of sound art, acoustic ecology, artistic research and digital media. He studied fine arts at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne, philosophy at Fern University in Hagen, and currently holds a PhD in Environmental Systems Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). He runs the music label domizil with Tobias Gerber, Ken Gubler, Claudio Landolt, Melia Roger, and Vivien Wang. After working as an editor and producer for the Swiss radio station SRF, he has been a researcher at the ZHdK Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST) at the University of the Arts Zurich since 2005.
Artist. Born 1965 in Niigata. In 1991 he earned a post-graduate degree from the Tokyo University of the Arts. Moving freely to and fro between society and history, across the borders between contemporary and pre-modern, east and west with a body of work that includes pretty young girls, war paintings, and salarymen, Aida's distinctive style featuring bizarre contrasts and scathing critique has earned him a sizeable following among people of all ages. His recent publications include the novel Gesai (Bungeishunju, 2020) and the essay collection "Sei to Geijutsu (Sex and Art)" (Gentosha, 2022). Recent major solo exhibitions in Japan include "Aida Makoto: Monument for Nothing" (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2012-13) and "GROUND NO PLAN" (Aoyama Crystal Building, Tokyo, 2018).
Mar and R3nder have been working together since 2010 on dance and video works. Recently they are looking for a hybrid concept that mixes dance and performance with artificial intelligence, design and video linking humans, machines and nature.
Mar (Marina Sarmiento)
Director. Choreographer Dancer. Performer. Born 1979 in Córdoba, Argentina. Graduated in Social Work at the National University of Cordoba (UNC), teacher and artistic producer. Her creative work has been deeply influenced by contact with other cultures and experiences and crosses the visual, dance, theater, sound and performance.
R3nder (José Jimenez)
Visual artist. Self-taught new technologies investigator, born in the city of Neuquen in Patagonia, Argentina, José Jimenez appears as mandatory reference in the new wave of visualists and promoters of new technologies in the visual arts, outside the conventional artistic circuit.
Part-time teacher at the Department of Design, Tokyo University of The Arts. After graduating from the department, she studied graphics as a postgraduate student at Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien in Vienna. She creates illustrations and designs for packages, advertisements, textiles, and picture books. As a workshop designer, she also works for educational institutions and welfare facilities. Also, as a musician, she made her debut in 2007 on Institubes in France.
Musician, sound artist, drummer. With the percussionist background, Matsumoto uses his experience through playing and listening to environmental sounds, using non instrumental objects such as found objects, nature, body and devices for various sound expressions. He aims to break the boundaries between his output and the surrounding environmental sounds to explore deep listening improvisation expressions. Previously he has released 3 albums Mizu No Katachi (2015), OchiruChiruMichiru (2017) and Mujo (2022) from the renown SPEKK label.
Aside from creating music by improvising with the unpredictable nature, he also compose music for films, visual works, plays and commercial facilities. He also tours throughout Japan for performances including tour “Listen to the sound of people” tour which is aimed to just meet acquainted people without doing any performances within the COVID-19 situation, space exhibitions and sound installations, site-specific exhibitions (residing and using the sound of that space). He also participates in the performance group Busstrio lead by Yuichiro Konno. He is also the executive committee member of the Ashi No Geijutsu Genya Festival held in Shiretoko Peninsula from 2021, always pursuing expressions based on sounds.
After working for a film distribution company and Hakuhodo in the content business, she started freelancing in April 2023, living in Yamagata and Tokyo in search of freedom and nature. While at Hakuhodo, she participated in a seminar at UoC and continues to be active as a member of Tokyo Urban Farming, and is in charge of planning the shared office RYOZAN PARK GREEN (Otsuka), which will open in March 2012. She is enjoying her life, which consists of movies and curry, with the addition of farming.
Architect, Artist, Designer. Born 1971 in France. Emmanuelle Moureaux is a French architect living in Tokyo since 1996, where she established "emmanuelle moureaux architecture + design" in 2003. Inspired by the layers and colors of Tokyo that built a complex depth and density on the street, and the Japanese traditional spatial elements like sliding screens, she has created the concept of shikiri, which literally means "dividing (creating) space with colors". She uses colors as three-dimensional elements, like layers, in order to create spaces, not as a finishing touch applied on surfaces. Handling colors as a medium to compose space, her wish is to give emotion through colors with her creations, which range from art, design to architecture.
Her representative works include the architectural design for Sugamo Shinkin Bank, "100 colors" art installation series, space design for ABC Cooking Studio, art installations for UNIQLO and ISSEY MIYAKE, and stick chair. In 2017, she has created a large installation "Forest of Numbers" at The National Art Center, Tokyo for its 10th Anniversary exhibition. Commissioned in 2011 by the New Taipei City Government in Taiwan, she handled the artistic design of the Mass Rapid Transit "Circular Line," working on the color scheme of 14 km section, where her colors spread into city-scale with its completion in 2021.
Her installation series - 100 colors - express emotions from the experience of colors and layers of Tokyo. Unveiled in 2013 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her studio, she is planning to exhibit ""100 colors"" in different cities around the world.
Associate Professor at Tohoku University of Art and Design since 2008, Emmanuelle's laboratory explores the possibilities of color through a project she named 100 colors lab. Students are asked to create 100 colors palette of an item from their everyday life, such as glasses, bubble foam, rice, umbrella, watches, CD, chocolate block and so on.

Sociologist. Born 1963 in Nagasaki. Mōri is a professor at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Global Arts. After graduating from Kyoto University, he worked for an advertisement company, and then earned a Ph.D. at Goldsmiths, University of London. His critical practice takes on themes involving contemporary culture and the organization of urban space, as well as social movements, with particular interest in contemporary art, music, and media. Written works include Sutoriito no shiso (Ideas behind street) (NHK Publishing, Inc.), Culture = Politics – New Cultural-Political Movements in the Age of Globalization (Getsuyosha Limited), and Popular Music and Capitalism (Serica Syobo, Inc.). He also served as editor for After Musicking (Geidai Press).
