Painter. Born 1973 in Tokyo. Blending fact and fiction, Meo Saito creates meticulous depictions of scenery witnessed during her travels. Her paintings are characterized by a preoccupation with relics of an era in mourning, and a literary style created through the arrangement of poetic words. She also produces text-only works and videos. Major exhibitions include "Labyrinth of Lines III: Mei Saito and the Temple of Flora" (Meguro Museum of Art, Tokyo, 2019). Publications include The Encyclopedia of Abortive Flowers (Geijutsu Shinbunsha). She is currently professor of oil painting at the Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts.
Artist. Born 1971 in Odawara, Kanagawa. Graduated from Musashino Art University in 1994 with a degree in oil painting, and completed the Royal College of Art Printmaking Course in 1997. She creates and exhibits works utilizing fabric and embroidery. The theme of her works is "pain" and "fear," which cannot be separated as long as we live. She stitches, reinforces, and sublimates "pain," and aims to create beautiful forms to free oneself from it. She is interested in the relationship between women, handicrafts, and art, which she is currently investigating through her works.
Art Director, designer, painter. Born 1961 in Tokyo. After graduating from Hokkaido University of Education, Sato studied sociology of education and sociolinguistics at Shinshu University. He then completed painting courses by Mokuma Kikuhata at Bigakko. In 1998, he founded the company Asyl Design (current name: Asyl). Sato produced the local project “Central East Tokyo” during 2003–2010. In 2010, he was involved in the founding of the art center, 3331 Arts Chiyoda. From his participation in the local art festival, Trans Arts Tokyo, he began to shift his focus on creating drawings. He has received numerous awards in Japan and overseas including his work becoming part of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s Permanent Collection. Professor at Tama Art University.
Director of the 3D Digital Archive Project at gluon. A graduate of the Department of Urban Environmental Systems, Chiba University. Following tenure at a landscape design firm, worked on events, exhibitions, installations and commercial space development at a spatial design firm, using a focus on branding and promotion. Also active in cultural promotion projects and talent development around media arts, and focused on planning projects around the intersection of cities, art, and technology.
Area planner. Since she was a graduate student at Tokyo University of the Arts, she has participated in surveys of the familiar environment of the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi neighborhoods. Since 1989, she has been involved in activities to bring local old private houses and lifestyle culture to life through Yokohama's “Making the Most of History,” Yanaka School, Geiko Exhibition, NPO Taito Cultural and Historical Society, and Machiakariya. She is also planning “Minna no Jikka,” which will connect urban and rural areas. 2019, she established Atari-Ars, Inc. and is currently a professor at Kokugakuin University.
Born 1983 in Kyoto. Studied architecture at Waseda University School of Art and studied under Asao Tokolo. He primarily creates sculptures, installations, and photographs based on geometry, the characteristics of materials, and the surrounding environment. At various scales, he considers the relationships and connections among nature, people, buildings, cities, social conditions, etc., and considers the forms of each. He has exhibited at various regional art festivals, such as the Oku-Noto International Art Festival and the UBE Biennale, as well as a large-scale work installed on the ceiling of MIYASHITA PARK and a group of works installed on six walls of Osaka International Airport. He has also created many permanent works.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design. Subsequently, from 2003 to 2010, he was in charge of the secretariat of Central East Tokyo, an art event that turned the city into an exhibition space. In parallel, he worked in the advertising industry, mainly in the field of web and TV commercials, in promotion planning for car manufacturers, with experience in copywriting, casting, location coordination and event management. Currently working as a videographer limited to cars. Founder of the International Auto Film Festa, a film festival about cars. Part-time lecturer at Kyoto University of the Arts.
Born in 2003. He has performed at TEDxUTokyo and other events where he played a synthesizer from weak electrical signals flowing on the leaf surface of plants. He is currently exploring new interactions with plants based on sound. He enjoys writing haiku and DJing.
The track "KABI," with its avant-garde non-grid beats that create a strange groove of displacement, was released on his YouTube channel. In addition to music, he also produces his own videos and artwork. With a genre-less approach, he is developing his activities from the underground.
A fashion brand launched by designer Shun Izumi in 2017. Each piece is hand-dyed and painted, expressing emotions that explode in tranquility under the brand concept "Wear your emotions". In 2018, Shun's older brother, Dai Izumi, joined the team, and a team was created around these brothers, which continues to this day. In September 2022, they exhibited at "Rakuten fashion week 2023SS.
Chairman of the Tokyo Cultural Resources Council and Professor at Kokugakuin University's School of Tourism and City Planning. As a sociologist, he has developed urban and media theories from a performative approach and has played a central role in Japanese cultural studies. He has long taught at the University of Tokyo, where he has served as Dean of the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies, Director of the University Research Center, Director of the Education Planning Office, and Vice President. He is also currently the President of the Society for Digital Archives. His major publications include "Urban Dramaturgy" (Kawade Bunko), "Exposition Politics" (Kodansha Gakujutsu Bunko), "Expo and Postwar Japan" (Kodansha Gakujutsu Bunko), "Pro- and Anti-America" (Iwanami Shinsho), "Beyond America" (Kobundo), "Visual City Geopolitics" (Iwanami Shoten), "Olympics and Postwar" (Kawade Shobo Shinsha), "Tokyo Urabashira" (Shueisha Shinsho), "Tokyo Fukko-nara" (Chuko Shinsho), and "Tokyo as a Loser" (Chikuma Shobo), among others.
Pianist, composer and performer from Rio de Janeiro. His creative musical process stands out for an innovative approach that explores the interaction between experiences, feelings and music. In the “Free Seat” project, in partnership with Ardalan Aram, Pedro creates music for people during random encounters in the city and in “O Trampolim de Oiticica” project, his music is created through performances that explore social and personal issues. Pedro also collaborates with artists from around the world and has conducted concerts and workshops throughout Europe, Asia and Brazil. He holds a degree in Brazilian Music from UNIRIO (Rio de Janeiro) and a Masters in Jazz Piano from Escola Superior de Musica (Lisbon). Pedro was a guest piano and composition faculty in two of the main music institutes in India – Global Music Institute (Delhi) and SAM (Chennai).
Artist. Born 1974 in Bangkok. While studying in Germany, she has actively participated in solo and group exhibitions in Thailand, Canada, Japan, Germany, and other countries. Her major exhibitions include the 53rd Venice Biennale, Thailand Pavilion (2009). She has been a lecturer at Silpakorn University since 2009. Her works critically address social, political, economic, and cultural issues. Each project consists of different media such as sculpture, sound, video, and interactive installation, according to the topic of each work.
Slow Art Collective is an artistic collective currently helmed by Chaco Kato and Dylan Martorell. Since 2009, they have been developing art that is completed together with the audience, making full use of familiar materials that have little impact on the environment. They value collaboration with the community, the environment, nature, the city, and materials, and seek a form of art activity that will slowly permeate and grow within society. They work in a wide variety of venues, including the TarraWarra Museum of Art, NOOSA Regional Gallery, McClelland Sculpture Park+Gallery, Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, Powerhouse Museum Sydney, MPavilion, National Gallery of Victoria, Gertrude Contemporary, Esplanade Theatres on the Bay in Singapore, and other regional schools, art festivals, and shopping centers.

Traveling Chef/Contemporary Gastronomist
Working exclusively with local ingredients throughout Japan, he creates dishes on Japanese paper that are at the intersection of climate and history. He also produces restaurants for art festivals, promotes regional development through food, writes food essays, and appears in films. Currently, he is working on a project to deliver not food but "deliciousness" to displaced people in Ukraine, participating in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale "Ubusuna House" in 2015 and the Setouchi International Art Festival "Restaurant Iara" in 2016. In 2021, he will launch "seven," a seven-month experiment in food and art. In 2023, he will be performing at the "Ukrainian Refugees x Japanese Startups Hanami" event, sponsored by the Ukrainian Embassy and the Founder's Notebook, to connect Japan and Ukraine through food. He also gave a performance to connect Japan and Ukraine through cuisine.
Born in Singapore. Soh's art practice began with ceramics, a very tactile, craft-based medium, but she soon found its very grounding (earth, the elements, physicality, cycles) expanded her interests into agriculture, food, the environment, and ultimately, sustainability. But looking around and outwards didn't make sense without a concomitant looking inwards. It became difficult investigating sustainable development without thinking about the sustainable personal. Her current interests hope to integrate a more holistic, interdependent relationship between the external world and the personal. Drawn to the natural world, especially trees and medicinal plants, she has been involved in repairing and recycling, working with nature’s debris through notions of cyclical renewal.
Artist, President of FOOD CREATION. Based on the themes of desire, curiosity, and evolution, the artist has created numerous works related to food through performing art, installations, dining experiences, and other methods. Her works are characterized by the treatment of food as a medium of expression that can appeal to the instinctive and unconscious senses, and by conveying emotions, memories, and other intrinsic sensations through "taste," bringing new questions and discoveries to those who experience them. In 2008, she held her first solo exhibition, "Appetite Design: Taste of Emotion through the Senses," at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. In 2014-15, the exhibition "Curiosity of Ajiwai: Museum of Curiosity" was held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. In 2019, "Journey on the Tongue" was selected as Winners of the STARTS Prize, an award by the EU and Ars Electronica. 2020 "Delicacies of Memory: Ayako Suwa Exhibition" at the Shiseido Gallery.
Sound artist and improviser. Combining piano and self-made devices, she plays "circuitous and restless performances." Her recent interests have centerd on the exploration of the gaps and narrative aspects between the interaction of instruments and particular embodiment.
Born 1963 in Shingu, Wakayama, Japan. In 1998, he published KUMANO, his first photo book, composed of sequences on the subject of visualizing points of view moving from here to there, shifting settings, and temporal change. In 2000, he won the 25th Ihei Kimura Photography Award for his photo book PILES OF TIME. Consistently making an analytic focus on the act of seeing as the basis of his work, he continues to photograph on themes that include Kumano, Mont Sainte-Victoire, Paul Cezanne's studio, cherry trees, snow. Major exhibitions include “Photography and Painting—From Cézanne: Shibata Toshio and Suzuki Risaku” (Artizon Museum, Tokyo, 2022), “Stream of Consciousness” (Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art, Kagawa; Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery; Tanabe City Museum of Art, Wakayama, 2015-2016), "Water Mirror" (Kumano Kodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, Wakayama, 2016), and "Kumano, Yuki, Sakura" (Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, 2007).
